Premier Pat Binns and the Provincial Cabinet are in the City of Summerside today as part of their regular summer tour schedule. Provincial officials are convening this morning at the Summerside City Hall for meetings with Mayor Basil Stewart and the Summerside City Council, as well as representatives of the Summerside Chamber of Commerce.
The Premier and Cabinet have also scheduled discussions with the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce while in the East Prince region.
“Summerside is a perfect example of the progress which can be achieved when provincial and municipal governments work together. We are here today to continue that positive partnership,” said Premier Binns.
The Premier credits the aggressive representation the Summerside area is receiving from its local Members of the Legislature for the consistent investment which the provincial government has made in the Summerside area.
“Significant projects like the Prince County Hospital, school construction at Athena and SIS, the Wellness Centre, our investment in small business which in turn are creating jobs, are examples of improved public services, enhanced infrastructure and increased employment for the people of Summerside,” noted Binns. “You can expect our government to continue to advance projects which respond to the priorities and needs of the people of Summerside.”
MLAs for the greater Summerside area and Slemon Park, Greg Deighan, Helen MacDonald and Wilfred Arsenault, will join the cabinet for its discussions with community leaders.
A tour of the Lefurgey Cultural Centre will follow a busy schedule of meetings.
