Becoming an Outdoors Woman workshop

* Agriculture and Forestry [to May 2015]
A popular workshop is coming up for women who want to learn compass and mapping skills for planning trips on the trails or in the woods.

The workshop, Becoming an Outdoors Woman, is being held October 19 and 20 at the Forests, Fish and Wildlife office at 183 Upton Road in Charlottetown.

This short course is aimed at women and is an opportunity for anyone 18 years of age or older to learn skills that are useful for planning outdoor activities. Topics include using aerial photographs, reading highway and topographic maps, taking compass bearings and an introduction to geocaching.

The workshop is sponsored by the Department of Agriculture and Forestry’s Fish and Wildlife section. Staff from the department will volunteer as instructors during the weekend event.

Experience is not required. The workshop sessions are a great way to make friends and have fun with like-minded individuals.

The workshop runs Friday evening from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. An optional field day is scheduled for Saturday morning. The cost is $20 and pre-registration is required because of limited space.

To pre-register, contact Tracy MacDonald 368-6080 or email tlmacdonald@gov.pe.ca
