September 10, 2008 * Transportation and Public Works [to Jan 2010]This Thursday, September 11, the Atlantic region’s Ministers of Transportation will be on Prince Edward Island for discussions in advance of the National Transportation Ministers meeting scheduled for September 25 in Toronto, Ontario. Some topics of discussion include road infrastructure funding, ferry services, cell phones, airport security, low-speed vehicles, and the Atlantic Gateway. “This meeting will help the region’s ministers exchange views on the most pressing policy issues facing Atlantic Canada and, hopefully, we can sing from the same hymn book at our meetings later this year in Toronto,” says the Island’s Minister of Transportation and Public Works Ron MacKinley, host of the meetings. “It is important to have some consensus, because it gives us more clout at the national meetings.” The Ministers will arrive on Prince Edward Island Wednesday night, ahead of a full day of meetings in Charlottetown on Thursday.
