"A seven-member Board has been appointed to govern the affairs of West Prince Health," says Health and Social Services Minister Walter McEwen.
"I'm extremely pleased with the high calibre of those who agreed to sit as members of the West Prince Board," Mr. McEwen said. "Each member has a deep commitment to the affairs of the Region, and their willingness to work toward a better health system in West Prince is testament to their community spirit."
The appointments will be officially effective on July 31, 1996. The members of the Board are: Charles Adams, Orville Willis, Ernest Hudson, Cletus Dunn, Richard Wightman, Karen Buote, and Joan Gaudet. The members of the Board will choose a Chair after their appointments begin.
"A large number of people submitted nominations for the Board, and I would like to express my gratitude to all those who offered their time and energies," Mr. McEwen said. "The quality of all the nominations was very high which made the ultimate choice quite difficult. However, I am confident the people of West Prince will be very pleased with the membership on the new Board."
Provincial Health and Community Services Board Chair, Dr. Don Ling, said he is looking forward to working with the West Prince Board.
"Since assuming the role of Provincial Chair in January, I have become familiar with many aspects of health care in West Prince. As in all regions, matching available resources with community needs in the most effective manner is the toughest challenge facing Boards, and I wish the new members well.
