AMVESCAP PLC to Establish a Global Enterprise Centre in Prince Edward

AMVESCAP, one of the world’s largest independent investment management companies, which operates as AIM Trimark in Canada, has selected Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, as a location for a Global Enterprise Centre, leading to the employment of 300 people.

“Our government has identified Financial Services as a priority sector for incoming business investment,” said Premier Pat Binns. “We are diligently working to attract high-level financial service companies. AMVESCAP is a strong addition to our business community and will provide excellent employment opportunities for our post-secondary graduates.”

The company intends to begin hiring immediately for the Centre, as it begins working towards its goal of 300 staff. AMVESCAP will set up a temporary office in the Atlantic Technology Centre before locating to a permanent facility. The initial positions will focus on the client servicing needs for their retail businesses around the globe.

“The fact that they have chosen to locate an enterprise centre in Prince Edward Island is a testament to the competitive entrepreneurial environment we have developed here in the Province,” said Mike Currie, Minister of Development and Technology.

AMVESCAP will be eligible for the Province’s Innovation and Development Tax Credit program which will support the company’s long-term presence on PEI.
