MDS-PRAD Technologies Corporation, a research and development, engineering and production company, has exceeded employment expectations and plans to expand. The company is located in Slemon Park and is one of the newest additions to the growing aerospace park. It opened less than one year ago, with plans to employ 42 people. The company now employs 59 people and will expand to accommodate growing demand for its services.
Premier Pat Binns and Development Technology Minister Mike Currie visited MDS-PRAD Technologies Corporation yesterday.
“Aerospace is increasingly becoming a key career choice for young Islanders,” said Premier Pat Binns. “PEI is proving it can be a leader in the aerospace sector, and I would like to thank MDS-PRAD for their commitment to the province and for providing such a great employment opportunity for young people.“
MDS-PRAD Technologies Corporation is a Canadian joint venture between MDS Aero Support Corporation and Ural Works of Civil Aviation (PRAD) of Russia. The company owns the rights to a protective coating that prevents premature wear and erosion in gas turbine engines. At its Slemon Park facility, MDS-PRAD has westernized the Russian technology and equipment to coat compressor blades for various jet engines.

Support from both the provincial and federal governments has been incredible, and our customer base is rapidly expanding.”
