Three new Access PEI sites will open in communities on Prince Edward Island. Crapaud, North Rustico and Stratford will have sites, adding to the nine already open in the province.
"Government is very concerned about our smaller, rural communities and we want to make sure people in those communities have the best access possible to government information and services," said Development and Technology minister Mike Currie. "Stratford's ranking as the province's third largest community makes it an excellent candidate for improved government service."
Access PEI provides one stop shopping for over 100 government services, including building permits, driver's license renewals, marriage licenses, program and job applications, business registrations as well as information on a number of government programs and services.
The Crapaud Access PEI site will be located in the same building as the village office. It will provide service to customers during the same hours as the Crapaud library.
The North Rustico Access site will also be co-located with the village office. It will be open during normal business hours through the week, as well as on Saturday morning.
A location for the Stratford Access PEI site is currently under negotiation.
As a special service to the growing community, the Stratford Access PEI site will provide appointments with building and electrical inspectors.
"The community of Stratford must have access to services which reflect the size of our population and it's continuing growth," said Provincial Treasurer Pat Mella, MLA for Glen Stewart Bellevue Cove. "I am really happy that the citizens of this area will not only have better access to government services but will also have something that will make the community stronger."
All three sites are expected to open in the new year. There will be an official opening at each site to explain Access PEI's services to the communities.
