2016 Love our Lobster Launch

Agriculture and Fisheries
The 8th Annual Love our Lobster campaign is now underway, said Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Alan McIsaac.

“Prince Edward Island’s lobster industry plays a very important economic role. In 2015, the lobster industry had an impact of approximately $300 million to the provincial economy,” said Minister McIsaac. “Our Island fishers work extremely hard to make this contribution to our economy and the Love our Lobster campaign is an opportunity for all of us to recognize and appreciate this industry.”

Love our Lobster is an annual campaign designed to increase awareness and appreciation for Island lobster and to create greater demand for the top quality lobster fished out of our Island waters.

“For most of us spring has not officially arrived until our lobster boats hit the water and the Love Our Lobster campaign kicks off. We need to make sure the Island, Canada and the world knows about our great P.E.I. lobster. By supporting Love our Lobster it helps keep our local communities vibrant and strong,” said Prince Edward Island Fishermen’s Association President Craig Avery.

Twenty retailers across the Island are participating in this year’s Love our Lobster campaign. When purchasing lobster from one of these retailers throughout the months of May and June, Islanders will receive a ballot for a chance to win great prizes. Prizes include weekend passes to the PEI Shellfish Festival and cookbooks. This year’s grand prize is a private lobster party for 10 people hosted by Chef Tyler Gallant.
