The PEI Seniors’ Secretariat is pleased to announce the winners of the 2015 Intergeneration Contest.
Intergeneration Week focuses on bringing generations of people together. The internationally celebrated event encourages individuals, families, and communities to strengthen their bond through communication and sharing. To recognize the week, the Seniors’ Secretariat invited Islanders to submit stories and poems about life lessons learned from another generation.
“Congratulations to the winners and participants of this year’s Intergeneration Week Literary Contest. You have all provided wonderful examples of the value of intergenerational relationships,” said Minister of Family and Human Services Doug Currie. “Through these beneficial relationships, people of all ages can share their experiences and provide unique perspectives on issues. This week is an excellent opportunity for Islanders to learn more about one another.
“It was a pleasure to receive entries this year from across PEI,” said Chairperson of the Seniors’ Secretariat Mary Hughes. “The Seniors’ Secretariat believes that people of all ages can develop greater respect and appreciation for the contributions of community members of all ages when we share our stories.”
