Fifteen Island students from schools across the province are leaving today to represent Prince Edward Island at the National Heritage Fair in Hull, Québec July 10-17, 2000.
Community and Cultural Affairs Minister Gail Shea said she was very pleased with the high quality of student work which will be seen in Hull. "Prince Edward Island will be well represented on the national level by enthusiastic and creative young Islanders who have a real sense of the history of this province and of Canada," said Mrs. Shea.
The National Heritage Fair is an annual event which brings together students from across Canada to share their experience and culture. The Fair is the culmination of a series of fairs at the school and provincial levels in all provinces.
Following judging at Provincial Heritage Fair and upon recommendation of school principals and the agreement of parents/guardians, the following 15 students have been selected to attend the National Heritage Fair during their summer vacation:

The Island students will travel with Chairperson Emile Gallant, and the following chaperones: Eleanor Lamont, Somerset Elementary School; Joe MacDonald, Morell Regional High School and Renee Bellavance-Stewart, Queen Charlotte Junior High School.
The Provincial Heritage Fair Committee is already working with students and teachers in preparation for the Heritage Fair in 2001.
