Fifteen Island students from schools across the province have been selected to represent Prince Edward Island at the National Heritage Fair in Edmonton Alberta, July 12-18, 1999.
In order of placing by the judges at Provincial Heritage Fair and upon recommendation of school principals and the agreement of parents/guardians, the following 15 students have been selected to attend the National Heritage Fair during their summer vacation: Ashley Pickard, École Queen Charlotte; Suzanne Canvin, West Kent School; Eryn Creamer, École Queen Charlotte; Meghan Stewart, West Kent School; Aimee MacDonald, Souris Consolidated; Naomi Campbell, Souris Consolidated; Tara Cheverie, Souris Consolidated; Tara O'Brien, Souris Consolidated; Deidre Doiron, École Francois Boute; Kirk Barlow, Miscouche School; Dustin Allen, Miscouche School; Melissa Crane, Vernon River School; Janel Gaudet, Tignish School; Jessie Gaudet, Tignish School; Craig Gallant, Morell Regional High School.
Next year, a National Tour will take place which contains a number of displays from each province from the 1999 Provincial Heritage Fairs. It will tour all Canadian capital cities sometime in 2000. This is a one-time project and students will not travel with the display. The following Island students' displays will be featured in the National Tour in 2000: Sam Koughan and Jason Roberge, Glen Stewart School; Leanne Larson and Jerina MacMillian, Morell Regional High School; Jana Cantwell and Michala Robinson, Birchwood School.
The Island students will travel with Chairperson Emile Gallant, and the following chaperones: Terry Doran, John J. Sark School, Lennox Island; Connie MacKay-Carr, Spring Park School and Renee Bellavance-Stewart, École Queen Charlotte.
