Angling seasons extended in some rivers

* Agriculture and Forestry [to May 2015]
The angling season for rainbow trout and Atlantic salmon will be extended in select rivers across Prince Edward Island. The extended season runs from September 16 to October 31.

Anglers will not require an additional licence however they must register and receive a log book prior to fishing the extended season. The log book is to be filled out and returned at the end of the season.

Anglers can register and receive their log books at Access PEI offices, at selected licence vendors, and at the Forests, Fish and Wildlife office at 183 Upton Road in Charlottetown. Online registration is also available at www.gov.pe.ca/forestry/summary.

For the extended rainbow trout season, anglers must use an artificial fly or lure with single barbless hooks. The daily catch limit is three rainbow trout. For Atlantic salmon angling on the Morell River, anglers can use flies only, with single barbless hooks.

Detailed maps of the rivers with an extended angling season can be found online at www.gov.pe.ca/forestry/summary.
