Statement by Environment, Labour and Justice Minister Janice Sherry and Finance, Energy and Municipal Affairs Minister Wes Sheridan on the passing of Judge Ralph Thompson

It is with sadness that we learned of the passing of former Chief Provincial Court Judge Ralph Thompson.

Throughout Judge Thompson’s public service career he served Islanders in a variety of roles. He was a Crown Prosecutor, departmental solicitor and Director of Legal Services, and Chief Judge of the Provincial Court.

After his tenure in the justice system ended, he agreed in 2008 to conduct a comprehensive review of municipal land use and development, consulting with Islanders from one tip of the province to the other.

On behalf of all Islanders, we wish to pass along our condolences to Chief Judge Thompson’s family, friends, and colleagues.
