Nominations for French Language School Board close this Friday

Nominations are currently being accepted for trustees for the French Language School Board and will be accepted until 4 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014. Nominations will be accepted by any Returning Officer in the electoral zones.

Candidate qualifications, nomination papers, zone maps and a list of returning officers are listed on the Elections PEI website at www.electionspei.ca or on the French Language School Board site at www.cslfipe.wordpress.com.

“We have had nomination papers delivered to the Returning Officers but not enough to fill the nine trustee positions,” says Gary McLeod, Chief Electoral Officer for Prince Edward Island. “I would encourage people who are interested in the education of their children to consider being nominated as a trustee.”

The French Language School Board has a total of six electoral zones across the province and will elect a total of nine trustees to the Board:

Zone 1 (Évangéline Region) - three (3) trustees;

Zone 2 (West Prince) - one (1) trustee;

Zone 3 (East Prince) - one (1) trustee;

Zone 4 (North Shore) - one (1) trustee;

Zone 5 (Queens County to Eastern P.E.I.) - two (2) trustees;

Zone 6 (Eastern P.E.I. - Souris ) - one (1) trustee.

Further information regarding the election process will be published after the close of nominations advising of poll locations on voting day.
