The Interministerial Women’s Secretariat Grants support organizations that provide direct services and programs for the benefit of women in the province, says Valerie E. Docherty, Minister of Community Services and Seniors.
“The annual grants provide funding to community organizations that support and enhance awareness, education and social action on legal, health, social and economic equality for women,” said Minister Docherty.
Applicants were asked to outline their planned projects that would meet at least one of the three themes for 2014: social media and girls (focus on cybersafety), women and leadership (focus on women in business), and engaging male and female youth (grades K-12).
The recipients of 2014 grants are the Women’s Network PEI for their project Building an Evidence-Supported Strategy for Cyber-Safety in PEI; the East Prince Women’s Information Centre for a project called EGirls PEI - Raise Your Voice; the PEI Business Women’s Association for a project that will help Island Women in Business Support, Inspire and Succeed; the Cooper Institute for a project entitled Migrant Women Lead; and the PEI Coalition for Women in Government for their project on Promoting Gender Equality in Island Youth.
“I want to congratulate each of these organizations for their commitment to providing services and programs that can benefit women and girls across our province,” said Minister Docherty.
