Spring weight restrictions begin March 16

* Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal [to May 2015]
To protect Island roadways as they begin to thaw, the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal will implement spring weight restrictions beginning at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, March 16.

Weight restrictions limit the maximum load allowed per axle for large transport trucks. These restrictions help preserve the province’s investment in highways as they become softer and more vulnerable to damage from heavy vehicles at warmer temperatures.

No overweight permits are issued during the restriction period and tolerances are not valid. For the complete list of weight-limited roads and more information, please visit www.gov.pe.ca/weightrestrictions.

For other road users, milder weather can present new driving challenges and drivers are asked to drive safely and watch out for frost heaves and potholes. To report a road problem, visit www.gov.pe.ca/reportproblems or contact your nearest dispatch office www.gov.pe.ca/dispatchoffices.
