On Saturday, March 8, we celebrate the achievements of women and bring attention to areas requiring further action, says Valerie E. Docherty, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women.
“Throughout the years, dedicated women have changed our world but change is still needed,” said Ms. Docherty. “When government, community partners, organizations and dedicated individuals work together, we can continue to progressively change our world.”
The theme of International Women’s Day 2014 is Inspiring Change. There are many ways that women in Prince Edward Island are inspiring change, such as the upcoming Bold Vision Conference. Through this exciting project, over 175 of Canada’s most influential and aspiring women leaders will come together at a three-day conference, where they will gather the skills and connections to reach leadership goals.
“I want to thank organizers and partners, the PEI Advisory Council on the Status of Women, and all the women-positive organizations who have contributed to plans for International Women’s Day in our province,” said Ms. Docherty. “I encourage everyone to get out on March 8 and participate in some of the activities to mark International Women’s Day.”
