Statement from Premier Robert Ghiz on the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games

On behalf of the Government of Prince Edward Island, I want to extend best wishes to defending Olympic gold-medal bobsleigh champion Heather Moyse as she prepares to compete at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.

I would also like to wish great success to Billy Bridges and Mark Arendz as they compete in the 2014 Paralympic Games. Billy, a member of the Sledge Hockey team and a member of the 2006 Turin Paralympic gold medal team, and Mark, a member of the Para-Nordic Team, have very successful competitive careers and continue to make Islanders proud.

Heather, Billy and Mark are three incredibly hard working athletes who are very dedicated to their respective sports. They are inspirations to our young athletes, and Islanders are extremely proud of their efforts and roles as ambassadors for our Province.

I encourage all Islanders to watch the Olympics and support our Island athletes.
