February 3, 2014 * Environment, Labour and Justice [to May 2015]Pesticide applicators and vendors whose certificate expires this year will have an opportunity to re-certify in the coming weeks. The Department of Environment, Labour and Justice has scheduled a series of re-certification exams beginning this week through to the end of March at various locations across the province. The applicator certificate covers those who apply pesticides for use in agriculture, landscaping, seed/seed piece treatment, structures, biting fly control and greenhouses. The vendor certificate is for domestic or non-domestic use. The fee payable for each certificate is $75. A five-year certificate will be issued to those who complete the exam successfully. Certification of applicators and vendors helps to ensure the safe and responsible use of pesticides. Those wishing to write the exam are asked to pre-register by calling (902) 368-5024.Media Contact: Wayne MacKinnon
