Statement by Premier Robert Ghiz on the new Premier of Nunavut

On behalf of the Government of Prince Edward Island, I would like to congratulate Peter Taptuna on being named Premier of Nunavut.

I also want to take this time to thank outgoing Premier Eva Aariak for her service and contributions to Canadian society. Eva always had the best interest of the North when meeting with her provincial colleagues at the Council of the Federation, and I wish her well going into the future.

Prince Edward Island and Nunavut share common objectives to make Canada a stronger country, and I look forward to discussing this further with the new Premier of Nunavut in the coming year.
