Islanders invited to participate in Health PEI’s third annual general meeting November 20

Islanders can take part in the third Health PEI Annual General Meeting in Summerside on November 20 by attending in person, or by watching online, says Health PEI Acting Board Chair, Gordon MacKay.

“We encourage all Islanders to take part in the meeting whether it’s at Credit Union Place, or one of the three alternate locations, or by following the meeting on the Health PEI website,” said Mackay.

“We have once again added sites across the province where Islanders can go to participate in the meeting in their own communities.”

While the meeting itself takes place in the Veterans Convention Centre at Summerside’s Credit Union Place (511 Notre Dame St.) at 6:30 p.m., November 20, Islanders can watch and submit questions electronically from:

• Western Hospital (boardroom) in Alberton

• Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Ambulatory Care Centre boardroom, lower level) in Charlottetown

• Kings County Memorial Hospital (boardroom) in Montague

Anyone can also follow the proceedings on the web at www.healthpei.ca/annualmeeting and submit questions via online chat.

“The theme for this year’s meeting is Managing Change Together, as it relates to achieving our vision of One Island Health System,” MacKay said. “We are very pleased to have Dr. Marlene Smadu, a nationally recognized leader in nursing education, as the guest speaker.”

Health and Wellness Minister Doug Currie will provide welcome remarks, MacKay and Health PEI CEO Dr. Richard Wedge will provide updates, and there will be a financial report and a moderated panel discussion. On-site interpretation services will be available in French.

Further information, including Dr. Smadu’s biography, can also be found on the Health PEI website at the link noted above.
