Statement from Minister of Tourism and Culture Robert Henderson on the awarding of the Nobel Prize for literature

On behalf of the Province of Prince Edward Island and the Department of Tourism and Culture I offer my sincere congratulations to Canadian author Alice Munro on receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature today in Stockholm, Sweden.

Ms. Munro’s contribution to the Canadian literary landscape is immeasurable and she is most deserving of this tremendous achievement.

In celebration of this prestigious honour, public libraries across the province will prominently feature Ms. Munro’s works in the coming weeks including hard copies of her short story collections, audio books and movies based on her work.

I invite all Islanders to celebrate Alice Munro and her contribution to Canadian culture.
