September 26, 2013 * Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal [to May 2015]The next one-kilometre section of the Trans Canada Highway (TCH) realignment between Churchill and Encounter Creek opens to traffic tomorrow, September 27. At the same time, TCH traffic in both directions will be detoured around the area being excavated at Encounter Creek where the existing highway crosses the realigned highway. Immediately to the west of the excavation site, the newly constructed Eric’s Cross Road will open as a connector between the realigned highway and the section of the former highway in Churchill (renamed Churchill Road). The speed limit throughout the entire six-kilometre Trans Canada Highway construction zone is 60 kilometres per hour. Motorists are urged to obey posted speed limits and pay special attention to signs and directions. Drivers who speed in construction zones can be fined $10 for every kilometre per hour they are over the speed limit.Media Contact: Brad Chatfield
