National champion wrestler, Hannah Taylor, has been selected to carry the Prince Edward Island flag at the opening ceremonies of the 2013 Canada Games in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
Hannah is the 15-year-old daughter of Norman Taylor of Rice Point and Bonnie Taylor of Summerside. She recently graduated from Summerside Intermediate School and will be entering Grade 10 at Three Oaks Senior High School in the fall.
Although Hannah has only been wrestling for three years, she has been undefeated in each of her last two seasons and was named Wrestling PEI Junior Female Athlete of the Year in 2013. Along with her win at the National Championships this year, she was named Outstanding Wrestler at the competition. Hannah’s goal is to one day be a world champion and she has taken a step closer to that dream by being named a member of the National team.
“This is truly an honour to be chosen as the flag-bearer, representing Team PEI, at the opening ceremonies. I am really looking forward to seeing successful results from all of our hard working athletes at the games,” said Taylor.
The Opening Ceremony for the Games will take place at the Université de Sherbrooke stadium on August 2, 2013 at 7 p.m ET. The ceremony will be shown live on TSN2.
