I encourage all Islanders to take the opportunity to learn more about Prince Edward Island’s Aboriginal peoples.“As Minister responsible for Aboriginal Affairs, I encourage you to participate in today’s events hosted by both The Mi'kmaq Confederacy of PEI and The Native Council of Prince Edward Island. “National Aboriginal Day was first proclaimed in 1996. It is held on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year and the first day of summer.
