Prince Edward Island to host Economic Mission

Premier's Office
The Province of Prince Edward Island will host the 2013 Heads of Mission Economic Mission next month, says Premier Robert Ghiz.

“The Economic Mission is an invaluable opportunity to showcase Prince Edward Island,” says Premier Ghiz. “Representatives from more than 60 different countries will be touring across our province, tip-to-tip, to experience first-hand what our province has to offer to the world.”

The 2013 Economic Mission will be held in Prince Edward Island Tuesday, May 14 to Thursday, May 16. Heads of Mission will spend one day in each of the province’s counties, visiting private sector companies and post-secondary institutions. The three-day event will highlight both P.E.I.’s traditional and non-traditional sectors, ranging from mussel plants to manufacturing plants.

“Island business owners are eager to host representatives from countries around the globe. The Mission will allow our private sector to meet face-to-face with representatives from the countries they currently export to, as well as markets they are interesting in penetrating. It is an opportunity to strengthen existing relationships and create new ones,” said Premier Ghiz.

The 2013 Heads of Mission Economic Mission aligns with the Government of Prince Edward Island’s overarching priority to strengthen the provincial economy through private sector support.
