Within the coming months, it is anticipated that certain Vital Statistics applications and payment services currently delivered as a “counter service,” will transition to an online application; processing for such applications will continue to be done at the Vital Statistics’ main office in Montague.
Currently, Islanders can print applications for Birth Certificates, Death Certificates and Marriage Certificates online at www.gov.pe.ca/health/VitalStatistics and mail them to Vital Statistics, or pick up/drop them off at a services provider. To obtain a Marriage Licence, Islanders must book an appointment for an interview by calling 1-877-320-1253.
Prince Edward Island Vital Statistics staff are working to increase efficiency and reduce wait times. Due to the low volume of walk-in clients throughout the winter months, service hours at the Charlottetown office are being condensed starting February 4, 2013. A vital statistics staff will be onsite at the Charlottetown office on Wednesday’s throughout the fall and winter months and additional days as necessary in spring and summer; this staff will work at main office in Montague the remainder of the week to assist in processing claims.
The expectation is that online applications and consolidation of staff in one main office location will increase access and payment options for the public and decrease wait times as we improve client service and delivery.
Islanders wanting to pick up or drop off an application can now do so at the following locations:
• Vital Statistics Main Office, 126 Douses Road, Montague
• Health PEI Office, 16 Garfield Street, Charlottetown (Open Wednesdays in the fall and winter, with additional days in spring and summer seasons)
• Alberton Access PEI, 116 Dufferin Street, Alberton
• O’Leary Access PEI, 45 East Drive, O'Leary
• Souris Access PEI, 15 Green Street, Souris
• Summerside Access PEI, 120 Harbour Drive, Summerside
