* Fisheries and Tourism [to May 2000]
Fisheries and Tourism Minister, Kevin J. MacAdam, has announced that the Brookvale Provincial Ski Park is launching a brand new festival this October. The Festival of Colours will be held at Brookvale's Alpine Centre on Sunday, October 11, 1998, from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. This event is aimed as a family fun outing with numerous activities planned.

"Fall is one of the most beautiful seasons on Prince Edward Island, and I am pleased that Provincial Parks has come up with a new way to help Islanders and visitors enjoy the fresh air and spectacular scenery," said the Minister.

The chair lift to the top of the park will be operating at a charge of $1.00 per person, with proceeds going to the P.E.I. Lung Association. While at the top of the park, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy great food and entertainment. Food will be available from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with proceeds going to the Brookvale Ski Patrol. Music will be provided by Michael Pendergast and Friends.

Also during the festival, wagon rides will be offered throughout some of Brookvale's trails; while Park Naturalist, Lisa Profit, will lead interpretive-guided tours to help explain all about the flora and fauna at the Park.

"We re hoping people will come out and enjoy the spectacular view from the top of the Park and take in some of the activities which we have planned," added Minister MacAdam. "Brookvale is one of the most dramatic locations for viewing the Island's fall foliage."
