A star-studded lineup featuring some of Canada’s top celebrity chefs will create mouth-watering dishes featuring Prince Edward Island culinary products during this year’s Fall Flavours Festival.
Food Network Canada stars Chef Susur Lee, an internationally acclaimed Toronto-based chef who has appeared on Iron Chef America and Top Chef; Chef Anna Olson, host of Bake with Anna Olson; Chef Anthony Sedlak, judge on Family Cook Off; and Bob Blumer, host of World’s Weirdest Restaurants will entertain crowds and showcase the province’s spectacular culinary products at Signature Events throughout the festival. They will be joined by Chef Mark McEwan, head judge of Top Chef Canada; Chef Corbin Tomaszeski, co-host of Dinner Party Wars; and Prince Edward Island’s own Chef Michael Smith, Host Food Network’s Chef at Home, Chef at Large and Chef Abroad.
Chef Michael Smith will host the Prince Edward Island International Shellfish Festival, September 13-16, 2012. Details of the other celebrity chef Signature Events will be announced May 24 when the full schedule of events is released.
“The line up of celebrity chefs for this year’s Fall Flavours Festival is a testament to the caliber of the festival, as well as the excellent culinary products grown and produced right here in Prince Edward Island,” said Tourism and Culture Minister Robert Henderson. “The festival is a great reason to visit Prince Edward Island in the fall and discover why the province is known as a food lovers’ paradise.”
“Last year’s Fall Flavours Festival was our best attended yet. One of the key reasons was the great guest chefs who took part and we’re excited to have so many fine chefs joining us for this year’s festival,” said Chef Jeff McCourt, chairman of the Prince Edward Island Culinary Alliance. “Fall Flavours continues to grow and is taking its place amongst the best food festivals anywhere – I know 2012 will be a fantastic culinary experience.”
“Every Signature Event at Fall Flavours will have one or more of these high profile television personalities as guest host,” said Chef McCourt. “After the fantastic food and all the fun we had last year, I know guests will be treated to some astonishing dishes and great entertainment.”
The Fall Flavours Festival, held at venues across Prince Edward Island September 7-30, is an initiative of the Prince Edward Island Culinary Alliance. The Culinary Alliance is a partnership between the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Prince Edward Island departments of Tourism and Culture, Innovation and Advanced Learning, Agriculture and Forestry, and Fisheries, Aquaculture and Rural Development, as well as industry representatives. The Alliance was created to develop innovative food industry partnerships, culinary experiences and promotional programs.
