February 29, 2012 The Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Commission will launch its fourth annual province-wide Support Safe Grad fundraising campaign on Thursday, March 1, 2012, announced Hon. Robert Henderson, minister responsible for the Liquor Control Commission. “The PEILCC is pleased to offer our customers the opportunity to support safe grad celebrations by donating $1 at their local liquor retail outlet during the entire month of March,” said Minister Henderson. “All donations will be distributed to Island high schools to help fund their alcohol-free graduation celebrations.” Customers who make donations will receive a sample-sized package of chocolate as a thank you for their donations. “We look forward to building on the success of our past campaigns which form part of our social responsibility programs. These initiatives promote the responsible use of beverage alcohol and include the prevention of underage drinking and the promotion of zero consumption for minors,” commented Brooke MacMillan, PEI Liquor Control Commision CEO. Funds generated through this campaign supplement fundraising and volunteer efforts of parents, students and teachers who work throughout the year to ensure the success of safe grad activities. One hundred percent of the donations for the Support Safe Grad campaign will be distributed to high schools hosting safe grad events.Media Contact: James MacLeod
