January 13, 2012 * Fisheries, Aquaculture and Rural Development [to May 2015]Provincial funding to upgrade St. Anthony’s Legion in Bloomfield will benefit the local community, says Fisheries, Aquaculture and Rural Development Minister Ron MacKinley. “Government is very pleased to provide assistance for necessary repairs to the building,” said Minister MacKinley. “The Legion is the heart of this community. It operates six nights a week hosting suppers, dinner theatres, bingo, card parties, darts and other social and recreational activities. It’s the meeting place for the community.” The Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Rural Development is providing $21,525 to carry out repairs to the building’s foundation. The Legion is contributing $7,175 to the project. “Legions play a valuable role building strong communities and our contribution reflects the importance of the Legion to the community,” said Minister MacKinley.Media Contact: Kim Devine
