Patients and staff at Kings County Memorial Hospital (KCMH) are now benefiting from the latest in X-ray technology thanks to the hospital foundation’s tremendous fundraising efforts, says Health and Wellness Minister Doug Currie.
“The various technologies across our one Island health system need to be continually upgraded to help improve patient care,” said Minister Currie. “I am very pleased with our government’s investment in this project and I commend the foundation for its great work in raising funds, as well as the Montague area communities, groups, businesses and individuals, for their generous contributions.”
The KCMH Foundation, through its capital campaign committee, raised $350,000 toward the purchase of the equipment, which was recently installed at the hospital. Government also contributed $165,000 toward the total $515,000 cost of the new machine.
Digital X-ray provides many benefits, such as; superior image quality, enhanced patient comfort, lower radiation dose and improved efficiency for patients and staff.
“We are very excited to have this modern X-ray machine at our hospital,” said Terry Campbell, KCMH administrator, Health PEI. “With digital technology, images are available for viewing within seconds, which means shorter patient exam time, less need for repeat views by staff, and overall improved patient safety, which is a top priority for Health PEI. We thank the foundation and government for investments in this important project.”
