PEI LCC generates funds to help protect Island rivers

More than $13,000 has been raised in support of Island Rivers – Worth Protecting, a new initiative from the Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Commission benefitting the work of the Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation in the province.

“I am pleased with the results of this new program and the financial support it provides to help protect and rejuvenate rivers across the province,” said Robert Henderson, minister responsible for the Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Commission.

A total of $13,146 was raised.

"We look forward to committing these funds to Prince Edward Island conservation projects in 2012 and encourage groups to visit our website www.salmonconservation.ca prior to December 16 to apply," said Stephen Chase, executive director of the Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation.

This is the first year of a five-year commitment by the PEILCC to support Island Rivers – Worth Protecting, which sees participating suppliers donate up to $1 from the sale of selected brands during the month-long initiative.
