The Honourable Ron MacKinley, Minister of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Rural Development expressed sympathy to the family and friends of Cathy Morrissey of Tignish, who passed away Thursday.

“On behalf of the Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Rural Development, I want to share my deepest sympathy with Francis Morrissey and family on the passing of his wife, Cathy,” said Minister MacKinley.

Mr. Morrissey’s family is known for its long-term involvement with the fishing industry across the province and the Atlantic region. Mr. Morrissey is currently Manager of Royal Star Foods, a subsidiary of Tignish Fisheries Co-op, and fishes out of Seacow Pond.

“The fishing industry in Prince Edward Island is a very tight-knit community where everyone knows each other. Francis, through his involvement and dedication to the fishery, is well known in the fishing communities across the province and this news will be met with a great deal of sadness,” Mr. MacKinley said.
