Souris walk-in clinic service temporarily suspended

Health PEI is advising the public that the Eastern Kings Family Health Centre walk-in clinic services are temporarily suspended effective Friday, October 21 due to insufficient physician coverage.

Anyone with urgent medical needs should call 9-1-1 or seek immediate medical care at the Kings County Memorial Hospital emergency department when:

• experiencing discomfort or tightness in the chest;

• experiencing unusual shortness of breath;

• experiencing abdominal pain;

• experiencing prolonged and persistent headache or dizziness;

• an injury may require stitches or involve a broken bone;

• a child has prolonged diarrhea or vomiting; or

• a baby under the age of six months has a fever of 38̊C (100.4̊F) or higher.

Health PEI is working closely with the Department of Health and Wellness - Recruitment and Retention Secretariat to fill current physician vacancies in the Souris area. Physician recruitment remains a top priority. Walk-in clinic service at the Eastern Kings Family Health Centre will resume once appropriate physician coverage is secured.
