New Lieutenant Governor to be sworn in August 15, 2011

Mr. H. Frank Lewis will be sworn in by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Prince Edward Island as Prince Edward Island’s 41st Lieutenant Governor on August 15, 2011 at Province House.

The installation of Mr. Lewis will begin at 1 p.m. Mr. Lewis will present his Commission of Appointment to the Executive Council. The Honourable David Jenkins, Chief Justice of Prince Edward Island, will administer the Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office to Mr. Lewis.

Mr. Lewis will also be presented with the Prince Edward Island Medal of Merit, joining his wife, Dorothy, as a member of the Order of Prince Edward Island – the highest Provincial honour presented to a citizen of Prince Edward Island. As Lieutenant Governor, Mr. Lewis is Chancellor of the Order of Prince Edward Island.

Premier Robert Ghiz and the Honourable Gail Shea will formally represent the Governments of Prince Edward Island and Canada, respectively.

The public will be restricted to the first floor of Province House on Monday until the conclusion of the installation ceremony.
