St. Peters Bridge work to resume May 16

* Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal [to May 2015]
Beginning Monday, May 16, and until further notice, the St. Peters Bridge on Route 2 will be subject to intermittent closures and detours as crews complete the remaining work on the bridge replacement project.

The remaining work includes deck approaches, deck seal and paving, storm lines and other road work.

Normally this type of work requires a full closure for a week or longer. In this case, officials will allow traffic to cross the bridge at appropriate times while the work is ongoing. This means short closures will be necessary over a three-week period, rather than a full closure for seven to ten days.

When the bridge closes, a detour will be set up and is as follows:

Traffic heading east on Route 2 will take a right onto Route 313, then left onto Route 312, then left onto Mill Road, then right back onto Route 2. Local business access will be available by taking a left onto Route 2 at the end of Mill Road. Traffic heading west will use the same route in reverse.

Access to the Confederation Trail, Visitor Information Centre and retail shops in the area will still be available for motorists and residents on the North side of the bridge when it closes to traffic.
