Book of condolences for people of Japan

Hon. Kathleen Casey, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, has arranged for a Book of Condolences to be opened at Province House for Islanders who wish to leave messages of support for victims of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

“Prince Edward Island and Japan have a special relationship,” said Speaker Casey. “Islanders naturally want to express their feelings of sympathy and friendship to those affected by the disaster.”

The Book of Condolences can be signed at Province House (165 Richmond Street, Charlottetown) from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. It will remain at Province House until the end of April, when it will be forwarded to the Embassy of Japan in Ottawa.

Speaker Kathleen Casey will sign the Book of Condolences at Province House on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at 1 p.m., at Province House.
