Island East Annual Cycling Event Set For October 1-3, 2010

* Tourism and Culture [to May 2015]
The Island East three-day cycling event along the scenic Prince Edward Island Confederation Trail encourages participants to cycle through some of the most beautiful Island communities, says Minister of Tourism and Culture Robert Vessey.

The fourth annual Island East Cycling Event will be held from October 1-3, starting off at the Brackley Community Centre on Friday evening. Day two starts at the Mt. Stewart Community Complex, and participants will cycle to scenic Montague. On Sunday, cyclists travel from Murray Harbour to Wood Islands for a wind up ceilidh and reception.

“The Department of Tourism and Culture is proud to support Island Trails and the Island East Cycling Event,” said Minister Vessey. “The Island East event is a fun way for Islanders to cycle while experiencing the wonderful Fall scenery along the Confederation Trail.”

Participants can cycle part of the event or take in the full three-day event. Certified trail officers will accompany the participants each day.

“Our beautiful fall colours should be at their peak during our fourth annual recreational cycling event,” said Event Coordinator Grace Blackette.

Full three-day event cost is $25 or $10 per day. Entertainment, refreshments will be available, and prizes will be drawn daily.
