PEI Flavours Celebrates the Prince Edward Island Culinary Experience

* Tourism and Culture [to May 2015]
With an emphasis on superior fresh flavours, extraordinary culinary experiences, and supporting local food producers, the PEI Flavours partnership identifies and celebrates Prince Edward Island’s authentic food culture.

Coordinated by the PEI Culinary Alliance, PEI Flavours seeks to increase culinary tourism, encourage Islanders and visitors to buy PEI food products, and to export Island food to world markets. PEI Flavours supports exciting programs and festivals such as Fall Flavours, Agri-Food programs, and the Flavours Trail.

“Fall Flavours is one of the events supported by PEI Flavours.” said Jeff McCourt of the PEI Culinary Alliance. “Extending Fall Flavours into a month long festival for 2010 will highlight our Island farmers, fishers, and chefs. Participants can choose from 250 exciting events and will have the opportunity to buy the best of local food.”

The PEI Flavours website www.peiflavours.ca was launched to connect farmers, fishers, chefs, and other culinary industry stakeholders to visitors who want to experience the best in culinary tourism. Through PEI Flavours, the PEI Culinary Alliance encourages all partners to work together to make PEI a premiere culinary destination.

“Through the PEI Flavours partnership, we are able to work with industry, government, and other stakeholders to promote culinary tourism on PEI,” said McCourt. “With increased interest in local products, there is a greater demand for PEI food. PEI Flavours is excited to promote the PEI culinary sector and recognize those food artisans who are highlighting and being creative with local products.”

PEI Flavours is an on-going, year round partnership designed to encourage Islanders to buy local, and experience their own local food culture, at any time of the year. This campaign is supported by the Department of Tourism and Culture, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Rural Development, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, as well as other industry stakeholders.
