Congratulations to the Cavendish Beach Music Festival organizers on their recent nomination for the Country Festival of the Year Award from the Canadian Country Music Association, says Minister of Tourism and Culture Robert Vessey.
“This festival brought thousands of new visitors to our province for a wonderful Island experience, thanks in large part to organizers,” said Minister Vessey. “Promoters used the Build Canada Fund to build infrastructure that helps revitalize the Cavendish area. The Government of Prince Edward Island supports initiatives that assist in the growth and sustainability of tourism, which is one of our primary industries.”
The Cavendish Beach Music Festival has become one of North America’s largest outdoor festivals because of its ability to attract internationally renowned country artists such as Taylor Swift and Keith Urban. The 2010 Festival brought 80,000 people to Cavendish Beach in July.
The Cavendish Beach Music Festival also featured many Canadian country stars such as Victoria Banks, Dean Brody, Shane Yellowbird and The Road Hammers, who have also been nominated for Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) awards.
The CCMA awards show will take place on Sunday, September 12 in Edmonton, and will be broadcast nationally on CBC and CMT.
