July 27, 2010 Health and WellnessThe construction of the new Maplewood Manor in Alberton is now underway, says Health and Wellness Minister Carolyn Bertram. “Government is committed to providing the most up-to-date facilities and programming to individuals with continuing care needs,” said Minister Bertram. “I was so pleased to meet with some of the residents of Maplewood Manor and hear how excited they are about their new manor. Local seniors, their family members, healthcare workers and the entire community will benefit from this new, modern facility.” Maplewood Manor is scheduled to be completed by September 2011 with occupancy taking place in October 2011. Maplewood is one of five facilities being replaced as part of Government’s $51 million capital budget for Manor Replacement. Each of the facilities have been designed to utilize best practice in the care of the elderly by respecting their need for privacy with a focus on person-centered care.Media Contact: Autumn Tremere
