As trucks filled with heavy gear and production equipment roll into town this week, the province is rolling out the welcome mat to the crew of LIVE! with Regis and Kelly, says Prince Edward Island Premier Robert Ghiz.
“This event will do a great deal to publicize awareness of the Island in many other jurisdictions,” Premier Ghiz said. “To have such a popular and engaging talk show like this being broadcast to those key tourist markets in the United States is an investment in our future.”
A crew will work throughout the weekend (Friday morning to late Sunday night) setting up staging, audience seating, merchandise tables and security perimeters for the Monday and Tuesday live and taped episodes that will be broadcast throughout North America.
In addition to the broadcasts from Confederation Landing Park, celebrity co-hosts Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa will also arrive in Charlottetown this weekend, where they will be filming segments showcasing aspects of PEI’s beauty and culture.
“I understand that Regis and Kelly have been talking about the Island for quite a while – which means that viewers have already gotten a small taste of our incredible province,” said Minister of Tourism and Culture Robert Vessey. “Next week, an audience of millions will see the best we have to offer when it comes to our culinary, culture, tourism and natural beauty.”
There will be two live shows on both Monday and Tuesday morning, with two additional taped shows during the afternoon. Those will air Wednesday and Thursday, which means nearly an entire week of coverage that will feature Prince Edward Island.
