Islanders are Encouraged to Take Part in the 4th Annual PEI Family Expo

* Education and Early Childhood Development [to May 2015]
The PEI Family Expo is a great opportunity for families to learn and have fun together, says Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development Doug Currie.

“This is an outstanding community event being hosted by Family Place, in partnership with the Parent Support Network,” said Mr. Currie. “This is the largest family related expo on PEI and it helps parents and caregivers learn about the wonderful programs and resources available to families of our One Island Community.”

There will be more than 80 information and display booths of interest to families as well as a number of other fun activities:

• Educational activities and hands on exhibits

• Contests such as Diaper Dash, Marathon Mom and Dashing Daddies

• Princess and Pirate Dress-up Emporium with princess and clown mascots

• Gigantic playtime inflatable rides

• Mother Goose reading corner and puppet shows by Summerside Rotary Library

• Face painting, cookie decorating, crown making and crafts for all ages

• Food, fun, UFIT, door prizes and freebies

“We hope that the Family Expo is a place where families can come to get fun, new, fresh ideas of ways to engage in their child’s learning and development,” said Laura Quinn Graham, Executive Director of Family Place. “The last three years have been well received by Islanders and I know we will have a great day and a huge turnout of Island families on Sunday.”

Family Place, in partnership with the Parent Support Network, is hosting the Family Expo 2010! on Sunday, June 20 (Father’s Day) from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at Credit Union Place in Summerside. Admission is free, and donations to support the Take :30 Read with Me provincial hospital-based literacy program are welcomed.
