Department Partners In Successful Lobster Promotion

* Fisheries, Aquaculture and Rural Development [to May 2015]
The Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Rural Development completed another successful Love Our Lobster marketing campaign during May in partnership with Ocean 100.3/K-Rock 105.5 radio.

The promotion included weekly lobster giveaways and in-studio interviews with Islanders who play a major role in the Prince Edward Island lobster industry. Weekly prizes included dinners for two at Lobster on the Wharf, New Glasgow Lobster Suppers and Fishermen’s Wharf and cooked lobster delivered to the door by MR Seafoods. The grand prize, won by Noella Horton of Winsloe, is a backyard party for 20 guests with a lobster dinner catered by Simple Pleasures Catering.

“The Love Our Lobster promotion highlighted the importance of supporting primary producers of high-quality, local seafood,” said Fisheries, Aquaculture and Rural Development Minister Neil LeClair. “In particular, it highlighted ongoing efforts to promote lobster regionally, nationally and internationally.”

Island lobster is fresh and delicious, and all Islanders are encouraged to support the local lobster fishery by including lobster in their everyday menu. Lobster is nutritious, easy to cook and very versatile. Many great dishes can be created using lobster. For great lobster recipe ideas, please visit www.gov.pe.ca/go/loveourlobster.
