Residents of Stratford are benefitting from improved sewer and water services thanks to investments made under the Building Canada Fund and Build PEI.
The Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, Stratford – Kinlock MLA Cynthia Dunsford on behalf of Honourable Ron MacKinley, PEI Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal, and Stratford Mayor Kevin Jenkins recently visited the completed projects.
“Our government is providing important infrastructure investments to stimulate the economy and create jobs, while improving the health, safety and quality of life of Canadians,” said Minister Shea. “The completion of projects in Stratford will benefit local residents and help facilitate future growth.”
Stratford is among the many communities across PEI to have received funding from the Building Canada Fund infrastructure program.
“The Build PEI initiative is an excellent way for the province to help Island municipalities update and expand their infrastructure,” said Ms. Dunsford. “The improvements made with this investment in Stratford will impact the quality of life of its citizens and improve the quality of drinking water for hundreds of families.”
The Government of Canada, through the Building Canada Fund, the Province of PEI, through its Build PEI initiative, and the Town of Stratford shared the cost of the three projects totalling over $2.3 million. The projects provided sewer and water improvements on Georgetown Road and a water main on Harlandview Drive and Bunbury Road.
“These projects are a key component of our efforts to expand our basic sewer and water systems to more residents,” says Stratford Mayor Kevin Jenkins. “We thank our provincial and federal partners for continuing to invest in our growing town and for helping to contribute to the health of our community.”
