François Gravel, a well-known French author, will be touring Prince Edward Island performing literary readings at French schools and public libraries says Minister of Tourism and Culture Robert Vessey.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for French library patrons and students to enjoy the readings and workshops of this well-known French author," said Minister Vessey. "Libraries play an important role in exposing patrons to literary works, through books, technology and live readings."
Gravel will be in Prince Edward Island from May 10-12, 2010. The tour is sponsored by the Canada Council and organized by the Commission scolaire de langue française in partnership with the public library service of the Department of Tourism and Culture.
François Gravel will be visiting the three French library branches and some French schools to meet Grades 4 to 6.
"It is important to have the possibility to bring to our children these events. It will help build their future by giving them the chance to learn more, which will then build a stronger and healthier society," said French Services Librarian, Jean-François Savaria.
