Mark O'Meara, winner of the 1998 Masters Tournament, will replace Greg Norman at the sixth annual Export "A" Skins Game presented by NEC, being held at the Links at Crowbush Cove, Prince Edward Island from July 26-28, 1998.
Norman, winner of last year's event, withdrew from all tournament play earlier this month after undergoing shoulder surgery. He is expected to be sidelined until November.
"It's unfortunate that Greg is unable to defend his championship," said O'Meara. "But I'm delighted that the organizers have invited me to compete. I've always enjoyed playing in Canada and have heard great things about Crowbush Cove. I'm looking forward to going head-to-head against Fred and the other players."
O'Meara will be playing against three-time event winner Fred Couples, long-ball hitter John Daly and Canadian golfer Mike Weir for the $360,000 purse.
O'Meara has 15 career PGA Tour victories, seven of which he has won in the past three years, and include this year's Masters and the 1995 Canadian Open Championship. He has played on four Ryder Cup teams and leads the U.S. standings for the 1999 Ryder Cup team. He is currently third on the PGA Tour Money list and is ranked first for number of putts per round at 27.48.
