The Provincial Board of the Prince Edward Island Women’s Institute (PEIWI) is pleased to announce that the beautiful Harbourfront Jubilee Theatre in Summerside will be the venue for a delightful concert of songs and stories featuring Stan Carew and the Magpies. This performance will be held on Sunday, May 2 at 3 p.m.
Stan Carew is the popular host of Weekend Mornings on CBC Radio One. He has worked in broadcasting since 1968 and with the CBC and several radio shows since 1979. Stan’s popularity with Islanders is evident by the large turnout for his previous shows at the Harbourfront Theatre. He is a radio announcer, an actor and a musician and has performed with several groups besides his own band, the Magpies.
Stan has worked in movies with well-known people like Harrison Ford and Sissy Spacek. His television credits include Trudeau, Made in Canada, Trailer Park Boys and an off-camera voice on CBC’s This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
As a musician, Stan has been a member of Halifax’s Wolverines for 30 years and has played in several bands including the BBQ Kings with his CBC colleagues. He currently performs with the Magpies at concert venues around the Maritimes and has just completed a very successful Christmas concert tour with the United Kingdom trio Breeze and Wilson. Stan Carew has released three albums.
Stan Carew and the Magpies have performed on Prince Edward Island several times including previous sold out concerts at the Harbourfront Jubilee Theatre.
The PEIWI is proud to sponsor this show with the net proceeds going to the Neonatal Unit at the QEH, a project dear to the heart of many Islanders. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 1-800-708-6505 or online at www.jublieetheatre.com. Tickets are $19 in advance and $21 at the door.
