Prince Edward Island Represented at the Paralympic Games

Only hours after Atlantic Canada House (ACH) opened its doors for the Paralympic Games, Prince Edward Island band Paper Lions was showcased on the mainstage and Island athlete Mark Arendz was onsite signing autographs.

“It is amazing to see the enormous crowds lining up to sample our Island cuisine and experience a taste of Prince Edward Island,” said Hon. Robert Vessey, Minister of Culture and Tourism.

During their meeting today at ACH, Minister Vessey also had the pleasure of presenting Mark Arendz with his home province’s flag.

“Mark is a fantastic ambassador for Prince Edward Island,” said Minister Vessey. “He is an extremely talented athlete who shows true determination and fortitude in every situation. On behalf of Prince Edward Island, I wish Mark all the best both here in Whistler and throughout his athletic future.”

Mark finished 7th overall in the Men’s 3km Pursuit - Standing on Saturday, March 13, with a time of 11:32. Mark will also compete in the Men’s Biathlon 12.5km Pursuit - Standing, on March 17; the Men’s Cross-country 10km - Standing, on March 18; and the Men’s Cross-country 1km Sprint - Standing, on March 21.
